Why the school count is 469
The 469 figure follows the FLDOE K–12 General Education school definition. FLDOE publishes special education, alternative education, career and technical education, adult education, and other primary service types separately. A broader school directory can therefore produce a larger count without measuring the same school universe.
Why enrollment totals can differ
The 321,509 figure is Final Survey 2 student membership. First-day enrollment, later-year enrollment, Average Daily Membership, school-directory totals, and federal data snapshots use different collection dates or definitions and should not be treated as interchangeable district totals.
Grade counts are cross-sectional
The grade table describes students enrolled in each grade during one reporting period. Differences between elementary and high-school grade counts do not by themselves measure dropout, migration, retention, or cohort survival because the rows represent different student cohorts.
